DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS OverviewThe Director of Operations manages the daily operations of the association and provides leadership, direction and support to each department (Events, Marketing, Membership, Sales, Accounting), the Executive Director and the team to ensure effective operations in achievement of identified goals and objectives. The association is seeking an innovative, self-motivated and dynamic leader to direct the company's growth, sustainability, and strategic partnerships. Leadership and ManagementAbility to adapt to changing landscapes quickly and to be seen as a resource, problem-solver, and collaboratorExcellence in organizational management in a collaborative environment with the ability to facilitate, train staff, manage and develop a high-performance team, setting and achieving strategic objectivesDeveloping ways to increase revenue for the association through trade show sales, sponsorship opportunities, membership and our magazineStrong written and verbal communication skills, a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skillsDetail-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable and innovative approach to business planningAbility to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people ResponsibilitiesManage each department at the association (Marketing, Membership, Sales, Accounting) ensuring membership, magazine, and trade show tasks are consistently moving in a positive directionContinue to work closely with Executive Director to provide objectives and goals, mentoring, motivating, reviewing performance and recommending responsibilities and compensation structureAct on opportunities for association growth and expansion as a collaboratorActively engage and energize association members, sponsors and exhibitorsLead, coach, develop and retain association staffWork with Executive Director on the budgeting processes to ensure that each department supports and achieves the overall financial goals for the associationEnsure effective systems to track progress, and regularly evaluate program components and measure successesCreate and enable the future of the association through strategic planning and coming up with ways to better sustain the associationBegin to build partnerships in new areas, establishing relationships with sponsors within the industryOwn the event calendar and assign events to the team, effectively managing the team's workload QualificationsBachelor's degree in business, hospitality or related field5+ years prior event management, hospitality, or meeting planning a plusExtensive experience in a leadership position managing and developing talentSuperior communication skills - clear, concise, thorough, and proactiveHighly organized, keen attention to detail is a mustAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions/complaints from clientsAbility to prepare reports and write business correspondenceProficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPointWillingness to work flexible hours, including weekends if needed Standout SkillsSuperior people and leadership skills - the ability to manage at all levels within an organization and develop a synergetic model of collaborationOutstanding team development and training skills - a talent for inspiring a team to produce their best work - do not shy away from tough conversationsSound personal and business ethicsPassion, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven and self-directedAbility to multi-task, prioritize several projects, focus and get the job done Compensation and BenefitsCompetitive annual salary based upon experienceBenefits including 401k (with 3% match) and insurance plans
