TMR is Florida's largest scrap metal recycler with over 20 recycling facilities located throughout the state. Our facilities include four automobile shredders, balers, shears, mobile shearing, torch processing, auto crushers, an extensive truck and railcar fleet, landfill services and railcar dismantling.

We are recognized as a good community citizen who is trustworthy, financially strong and environmentally proactive.ResponsibilitiesA Safety Management Trainee will be exposed to all facets of supporting safety in the scrap processing business during a hands-on training period. This will include:

  • Auditing plants/facilities for safety compliance; following up to correct deficiencies
  • Working with plant core teams to investigate accidents and incidents
  • Preparing and presenting monthly/annual training, and other monthly safety meeting topics
  • Developing, revising, and implementing site-specific safety policies and safe work procedures
  • Performing air sampling and noise level testing as needed
  • Approving safety supplies and personal protective equipment for use
  • Enforcing safety rules and helping to develop good employee safety attitudes during facility visits
  • Ensuring all documentation and record keeping is properly filled out, including accident logs and investigation reports
  • Recommending company safety policy changes to corporate staff
  • Serving as first contact for OSHA or other safety regulators

    QualificationsThe training period does not have a specific time frame but generally takes 12-18 months to become familiar with the business in order to assume greater responsibility. During this period, the safety management trainee will support multiple facilities in Florida It is the goal of the Trainee program to develop individuals to assume safety management roles upon conclusion.Ideal candidate will have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health or Industrial Hygiene.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to adapt to changing assignments.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills - ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish) required
  • Willingness to travel throughout Florida
  • Willingness to relocate to any of the regional locations within the Company
