Position Summary We are seeking a Principal Flight Dynamics Simulation Engineer with a concentration in aerodynamic model development to join our team at the TRU Innovation Center for Product Development based in Lutz, FL\. TRU?s Innovation Center specializes in the research, development, and prototyping of flight simulation software and hardware\. The Software Engineering Department at TRU?s Innovation Center offers a startup\-like culture with plenty of opportunity for career growth and the ability to cross\-train between multiple software disciplines\. The preferred candidate has broad technical knowledge and a strong desire for innovation and reports to the Flight Dynamics Engineering Manager\. Responsibilities: * Design, develop, integrate, test, and document flight simulator aerodynamic models for a wide range of business and military aviation platforms, including both fixed and rotary wing aircraft * Create, maintain, and conduct aircraft data collection plans * Work closely with engineers of varying disciplines and aircraft Subject Matter Experts to meet flight simulator regulatory and customer training requirements * Provide engineering staff with recommendations for software/hardware enhancements * Perform hardware/software integration & testing on flight simulator devices, including subjective pilot acceptance testing * Assist in customer acceptance and regulatory qualifications of flight training devices * Participate in engineering design reviews * Keep current on future technologies and products to determine where and how such products can be incorporated into designs **Qualifications** Qualifications: * 10 years of experience developing aerodynamic flight simulation models * Theoretical understanding of longitudinal and lateral\-directional flight dynamics including aircraft performance, six degree of freedom forces/moments, and stability/control derivatives * Knowledge of avionics and aircraft systems, specifically propulsion, flight controls, and ground reaction forces * Flight Simulation industry experience is strongly desired * Proficiency with C/C , Linux/Unix, and shell scripting is a plus * General piloting knowledge is a plus * Flight testing experience is a plus * Exceptional problem solving and troubleshooting skills, especially with limited relevant information * Strong work ethic and attention to detail * Excellent communication skills \(verbal, written, interpersonal\) * Ability to work independently and in a team environment * Travel may be required * Ability to obtain a security clearance required Education: * Bachelor?s or advanced degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering **EEO Statement** Textron is committed to providing Equal Opportunity in Employment, to all applicants and employees regardless of, race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, military status, veteran status, handicap, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information or any other characteristic protected by law\. **Pay Transparency Policy Statement** The contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant\.
