Job Description Job Description Building Safety Director Ocala, FL $110,614.40 - $141,034.40 DOE Direct Hire Overview: Lead a dynamic department overseeing building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing inspections and code enforcement. Ensure construction activities meet Florida Building Code standards while managing a skilled team and delivering exceptional public service. Key Responsibilities: Oversee all department operations, plans review, and inspection activities Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building regulations Lead and develop staff, manage scheduling, and perform evaluations Approve permits, certificates, and enforcement actions Communicate with officials, contractors, and the public Prepare reports, budgets, and code amendments Represent the department at meetings and emergency operations Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience) 10 years of progressively responsible management experience in construction or a municipal agency Florida Building Code Administrator license Valid Florida driver’s license (or ability to obtain by hire date) Why Join Us: Make a direct impact on community development in a leadership role.
